Biography
Louise Wilson, MS, BSN, RN, LSN, NCSN is an accomplished registered nurse currently serving as the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction’s (DPI) School Nurse/Health Services Consultant. Wilson has been practicing the specialty of school nursing for 29 years. She began her school nurse practice in the Beaver Dam Unified School District where she established school health services as a district-based entity. After 24 years, she assumed her role with the DPI.
Wilson has served on the board of directors for the Wisconsin Association of School Nurses (WASN). She has served as the WASN membership chair, director to the National Association of School Nurses, president-elect, and president. As the DPI consultant she continues to serve on the WASN board of directors.
Wilson also has school nurse experience on the national level. She served four years as a board member for the National Association of School Nurses (NASN) and was appointed to the Executive Committee of NASN in an advanced leadership position. Wilson is a member and officer of the National Association of State School Nurse Consultants (NASSNC). She has served as the publications committee chairperson, the vice president, and is currently the president elect where she will assume the role of president of NASSNC in the winter of 2023. NASSNC awarded Wilson the 2022 Outstanding State School Nurse Consultant Achievement Award.
Wilson has experience in researching, developing, and writing policy and position statements for school districts and state and national agencies and organizations. As state School Nurse/Health Services Consultant Wilson provides expert leadership, consultation, and technical assistance for school nurses, state and local agencies, professional organizations, and parents and families regarding school nursing and health services.
